ENTRUST featured in the HIMSS European Projects Insight Report 2025

ree

We’re proud to share that ENTRUST has been featured in the newly released European Projects Insight Report 2025 by HIMSS - a publication that brings together 12 EU-funded projects driving innovation in digital health.

This report follows the HIMSS25 Europe Conference, where ENTRUST was represented by four project partners, Future Needs, Uni Systems, Ubitech, and Qubitech at the EU Projects Pavilion. The team joined an inspiring line-up of projects tackling data interoperability, cybersecurity, and patient-centric healthcare.

Raising visibility for European collaboration in digital health

The European Projects Insight Report was officially released in 2025 as part of the HIMSS European Projects Initiative. This initiative combined three main components:

  • the EU Projects Pavilion, where projects like ENTRUST showcased their innovations to more than 2,000 international stakeholders

  • the Value Co-Creation in Healthcare Workshop, attended by 260+ experts; and

  • this Insight Report, which compiles lessons learned, cross-project recommendations, and forward-looking policy insights.

Through this initiative, HIMSS highlights how European projects contribute to the digital transformation of healthcare and to the common goal of creating secure, interoperable, and value-driven health systems.

What the report includes

The 2025 Insight Report is structured to offer readers a clear overview of Europe’s digital health research landscape. It includes:

  • an introduction and policy context setting out the goals of the European Projects Initiative;

  • detailed summaries of the twelve featured projects, including ENTRUST;

  • a section on Value Co-Creation, discussing how stakeholders can collaborate for better adoption and sustainability; and

  • an Advisory Board review, which synthesises over 160 recommendations across themes such as data governance, interoperability, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability.

ENTRUST’s contribution

Within the report, ENTRUST is showcased as a key initiative in connected medical device cybersecurity. The project’s summary highlights:

  • the ENTRUST Trust Management Framework, ensuring zero-trust principles and continuous security assurance throughout the device lifecycle;

  • the Dynamic Conformity Certificate, a real-time, blockchain-enabled credential that reflects a medical device’s current security status;

  • four pilot studies across Europe, testing ENTRUST’s framework in real healthcare environments.

The report also recognises ENTRUST’s broader impact: promoting open-source development, engaging regulators in dynamic certification approaches, and contributing to EU-level discussions on trust management and conformity assessment for connected medical devices.

"ENTRUST has been a journey of truly collective innovation – from clinicians and engineers to patients and policymakers, we’ve co-created solutions that put safety and trust at the core of healthcare. Participating in the HIMSS25 Workshop reaffirmed the value of this cross-sector collaboration in driving a people-first digital health transformation." - Thanos Arvanitidis -Researcher and Innovation Project Manager at Future Needs, contributing to the ENTRUST project by leading and coordinating Dissemination, Communication, Exploitation, and Impact Creation activities.
